605: LARGE SWATOW PEWTER CHARGER W/DRAGONS

This is a fine example of Swatow pewter.  Swatow pewter was first offered around 1885 and has become very collectable. This large charger is 13" across and 1" deep.  It is very thick and heavy typical of Swatow.  It is signed with several characters including three in Chinese and the stamp of "Kut Hing Pewter Swatow".  There are etched dragons in the center of the charger with intricate designs all around the edge.  It is actually in pretty good condition especially considering it's age.  It is a little odd shaped around the edge, but is very pliable (you can fuss with it).  Estimated circa 1900 or earlier.
