828:  Carved Bone King and Queen

Here we have a magnificent pair of intricately carved bone King and Queen.  They are carved from many many pieces of bone pieced together to create the medium for the artist to show his talent.  Note the endless scrimshaw work stained with vivid colors. Although they are still making such carvings today, these are early pieces from probably 1920 or so.  The later pieces usually have superficial carving, where as these, have deep carvings.  Note the dragon heads on the chair arms for the King and bird heads for the Queen.  They are a HUGE 18" tall, 12" wide, and almost 10" deep.  Although relatively older, they are in perfect condition.    Make a statement in your collection.... $1200 for the pair.
