All the below carvings are of genuine camel bone (not resin or plastics, or "reconstituted" bone).  The camels that furnished the material all died from natural causes.  The Chinese family that created these masterpieces had formally carved ivory for generations. With concern for the future of elephants, the family now uses camel bone as their medium. It is a natural white in color and virtually indistinguishable from ivory.  Many finely carved pieces has been meticulously fitted together to form the scenes (an art in itself). They have successively salvaged the art form but have made friends with the environment. These models are a one time import directly from the family in China and are rare examples.
